A Spooktacular Tradition at the Hunn-Collyard Home

A Spooktacular Tradition at the Hunn-Collyard Home

Every year, as fall leaves begin to blanket the town with hues of orange and gold, a special excitement fills the air of our beloved Keys community. It’s all thanks to Jean Hunn, John Proulx, the Collyard children, and now grandchildren, who help build a spectacular Halloween display at her home each October.

Jean’s passion for Halloween is nothing short of extraordinary. Taking around 300 hours—equivalent to one intense week of work with a team of three—to transform her house into a haunted masterpiece. This transformation begins as soon as October 1st, weather and schedules permitting. Over the years, Jean has curated a collection of spooktacular decorations that you can see as part of the slideshow below.

The impact of Jean’s dedication is evident on Halloween night, when her home draws around 500 excited trick-or-treaters. For 27 years, Jean has been delighting our community with her enchanting displays, making her home a must-visit destination each year. Her creativity and commitment not only bring joy to the children of Keys but also foster a sense of community and continuity among all of us.

At Keys Cafe, we’re always thrilled to share stories of remarkable individuals like Jean who contribute so much to our local culture. It’s what Keys Cafe is all about!
